Joanna
read
music at Huddersfield Polytechnic graduating in 1991 and now lives in
Burwell, Cambridgeshire. Whilst at Huddersfield, she studied
Performance, Musicology and Composition, specialising in Musicology and
Performance, with voice as her principal instrument.
Classically trained on a course that included all aspects of vocal
technique, Joanna teaches
singing
at all
levels and has had particular success with beginners especially those
who do not believe they can sing! Joanna believes with the right
approach anyone can sing. Music is tailored to students individual
needs and is mainly taken from musical theatre and classical
repertoire. Her pupils are of all ages from children to adults and
whilst far from compulsory, she will prepare students for ABRSM and
Trinity Music Examinations. Joanna also teaches
piano,
music
theory and composition.
Joanna has
performed
in the UK and abroad,
having performed in St Pancras Euston Road, and Derby Cathedral. She
has given recitals locally and in Devon. She particularly enjoys
singing at weddings. Her repertoire draws on a wide range of music
especially Baroque music, Oratorio, Operatic Arias, English Art Songs
and Broadway Musicals.
Joanna has written several Christmas carols for children, and composed
a piece for a recent Ordination; she welcomes commissions. She has a
special interest in Church Music, and as a singer herself understands
the needs of singers of all abilities.
